Limit Finder Search to current folder rather than complete system

By Chaitanya | Filed Under: Mac

Sometimes, we just want to search in a specific folder rather than the whole system. By default, the Finder search (located at the top right corner of Finder window) in the complete system. This is annoying sometimes when we don’t remember the complete file name and search with the file name initials to end up with whole lot of files. By limiting the search to the current folder, we make it efficient, fast and more useful.

Limiting the Finder Search to current Folder

  1. Open Finder ❯ Go to Finder Preferences from the top menu
  2. Go to Advanced tab and change the dropdown option to “Search the current Folder“.
