How to Add a Folder to the Favorites in the Finder sidebar?

In Finder we have a list of Favorites in the left sidebar. In this guide, I will show you how to add a specific folder to the left sidebar of Finder. There are couple of ways to do it.

Method 1: Dragging the folder into the sidebar

Simply dragging the folder to the desired position in the sidebar would add it there permanently. While dragging the folder to sidebar a horizontal line appears in sidebar that shows you where your folder is going to be added. Also, you can change the position of the folder even after the addition, just select the folder in sidebar, drag it and drop at the desired position.

Method 2: Selecting the folder and then adding it to favorites from Finder File menu

1. Select the Folder in Finder
2. Click on the File in the Finder Menu
3. Click “Add to Sidebar“.

Note: Alternatively you can press Control + Command + T to add the folder directly to the sidebar

How to remove a folder from Favorites in the Finder sidebar?

1. Right click (Control + click or two finger tap on trackpad) on the folder in sidebar and select remove from sidebar.
2. Press and hold Command key and drag the folder out of the sidebar, this would remove it from the favorites.
